Thank you for this great information. As a student taking an AP English Lit/Comp. class, I wanted to know how the test is scored. No other sites provided such clear and relevent information as did this one. I wanted to make sure that even if a Bomb the multiple-choice section of the test but (as my teacher says it) “kick some bootey on the essyes that you [meaning I] are SO prepaired for”, I can get a good score. To my surprise, I found that even if I get only half right on the multiple choice and get the rest wrong but get nines on my esseys, I can end of with a 5! But being realistic here, a 4 isn’t a bad score either.
I am wondering though…my teacher did say that the AP “bell curves” the multiple choice section: if too many people get a low lcore, for example, AP will grant a heigher score with lower multiple choice performance that it normally would, and this, as I was told, is done every year. I would appreciate it If you mentioned something about this and how it effect how the score is calculated.
